I believe there are no co-incidences in life so after that lengthy conversation with those girls on the train from Nice to Monaco who were on holidays from their English teaching jobs, I knew that Japan was the next destination. To be able to travel the world during long holiday periods and get a chance to learn another language were big drawcards. 10 years on, I have had the opportunity to live and work in Japan, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand and have seen most of the world on my holidays!
Reflecting back on my English teaching postings abroad, would have to say the highlights of each country are quite diverse. From the healthy cuisine of Japan to the shopping and efficiency of HK, the stimulating and humanitarian teaching focus of Jakarta to the enthusiasm of Chinese students in Changzhou, each destination holds vibrant memories of both the job and the people. And the journey is far from over as the desire to learn Spanish in South America gathers momentum! Feel so fortunate that this qualification has been and will continue to be a passport to travel for many more years to come.
