The Teach
International Certificate III in
Teaching English to Speakers of Other
Languages (TESOL) 30502QLD, is a short,
intensive course, providing basic training for people wanting to teach
English overseas. This course provides course participants with the basic
skills and knowledge for teaching in language schools, government and
private schools, and universities in many countries where English language
teachers are in high demand. It consists of ALL the components of the Foundation
in TESOL Course, plus an Online Auxiliary Unit and 10
hours of teaching practice.
In the accredited course structure, participants wanting a Certificate III in TESOL qualification will need to complete 21 compulsory units, two elective units and 10 hours of compulsory teaching/tutoring practice. This practice teaching must be with one or more international students at a Language College or through a TAFE home tutoring scheme or AMEP (Adult Migrant Education Program) or similar. Teach International assists students with practice teaching placements. It can also be undertaken overseas, provided the school and supervising staff are suitable.
The total duration for Certificate III is 110 hours. If participants choose not to undertake the 10 hours of teaching/tutoring required for the Certificate III, they may exit with a Statement of Attainment for all units completed, and a Teach International Foundation in TESOL Certificate (provided all Foundation units have been completed). On submission of a successful Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) application after having successfully completed teaching hours overseas, the complete Certificate III may be issued.
