UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Wealth, Gold And A Little Of The Old!

Palace at nightIt is Burj Al Arab, the Dubai icon, the 7-star hotel designed in the shape of a billowing sail that epitomises the United Arab Emirates in so many ways. Built on an artificial island, each suite includes its own butler, a foyer with 24 carat gold columns and a helipad resembling half of Star Trek's Starship Enterprise; or perhaps you may want to buy an apartment in a man-made suburb in the shape of a palm tree.  Did you know that it is visible from outer space?

Yes; it is glitzy, classy and in most cases progress screams the words wealth and success like the icons that are part of it. Ashamed of it?  No way!  Talk to the locals and they will tell you how proud of it they are. Like it? Yes, one can't help but like it.  In this case, all things that glisten really seem like gold.

Boat ridesIn this small corner of Arabia, the United Arab Emirates does glisten in the realms of growth, wealth and success. The UAE is famous for its beaches, desert vistas and Bedouin background; mix with that oil, business success and stability. Arab men strut their stuff: crisp, clean and pristine in white robes and black shades all appear about to seal a big business deal.

The UAE is made up of seven sovereign sheikhdoms which were formed in 1971 as the British withdrew from the Gulf. Dubai manages to balance being a shining example of a modern day Arabian city, spectacular in its growth, and to foster also a friendship with the western world. Dubai is an exciting city today, constantly moving, evolving in a flashy, showy fashion you just can't help but like.

Abu DhabiDo desert sands, balmy Arabian nights and a good camel take your fancy? Well, if you like the sound of it, you're not alone! Why not consider teaching there.  Competition can sometimes be fierce, and they require a degree, experience, expertise and professionalism - but they will pay you well for it!

The message from the United Arab Emirates is "look at me".  And why wouldn't you? Everyone else is!
