About Kyoto
Kyoto, with 1.5 million was formerly the imperial capital of Japan and so is a culturally iconic and an intellectual center of Japan. It remained Japan's capital until the transfer of the imperial court to Tokyo in 1869. Kyoto has an abundance of pre second world war buildings including many shrines and temples. When travelling by train from Osaka to Kyoto (about 50 minutes) one realises why Kyoto is considered as a major part of the Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto metropolitan area. There are country areas, but either side of the train line one can see a relatively built up metropolis. Although there are many language schools in Kyoto and dotted at train stations which fan out from its centre TESOL employment will more likely be initially gained through the chain school’s head or regional employment offices in Osaka or Tokyo.
